Two months of dA

Well, I've just about had it with 8 bit RGB channels. I want floating point HSL! I want dynamic range wavelet / frequency domain! I'm convinced you could do mad stuff in those spaces. Eg. vocoder like modulation of the hue channel of one image by the luminance channel of another image, all dynamic range ofcourse. Hilbert transform stuff, FM-style modulation, phase randomization, cepstrum...

My work is simply swamped with quantization noise. From now on I'm just going to use the GIMP for wrapping things up, preferably linear ops only.

I'm working on float rendering in python, but I'll be moving (reluctantly) to C & ImageMagick for speed. Currently investigating histogram reshaping techniques, dynamic range reduction, weird color space operations, mass image merging (have a python program for doing that - results are sort of interesting so far), animations of non linear transforms (also python - learning to use ffmpeg, mencoder).

Other than that, this place is huge. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface.
